他們說：來罷！我們要建造一座城和一座塔，塔頂通天，為要傳揚我們的名，免得我們分散在全地上。 4 Then they said, 「Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth.」

因為耶和華在那裏變亂天下人的言語，使眾人分散在全地上，所以那城名叫巴別【就是變亂的意思】。 9 That is why it was called Babel-- 11:9 That is, Babylon; （（Babel）） sounds like the Hebrew for （（confused））. because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
