以色列人向耶和華發願說：「你若將這民交付我手，我就把他們的城邑盡行毀滅。」 2 Then Israel made this vow to the LORD: 「If you will deliver these people into our hands, we will totally destroy（ \f 21:2 The Hebrew term refers to the irrevocable giving over of things or persons to the LORD, often by totally destroying them; also in verse 3. their cities.」

耶和華應允了以色列人，把迦南人交付他們，他們就把迦南人和迦南人的城邑盡行毀滅。那地方的名便叫何珥瑪〔就是毀滅的意思〕。 3 The LORD listened to Israel's plea and gave the Canaanites over to them. They completely destroyed them and their towns; so the place was named Hormah.（ \f 21:3 （（Hormah）） means （（destruction））.

他們從何珥山起行，往紅海那條路走，要繞過以東地。百姓因這路難行，心中甚是煩躁， 4 They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea,（ \f 21:4 Hebrew （（Yam Suph））; that is, Sea of Reeds to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way;

就怨讟神和摩西說：「你們為甚麼把我們從埃及領出來、使我們死在曠野呢？這裏沒有糧，沒有水，我們的心厭惡這淡薄的食物。」 5 they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, 「Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!」

百姓到摩西那裏，說：「我們怨讟耶和華和你，有罪了。求你禱告耶和華，叫這些蛇離開我們。」於是摩西為百姓禱告。 7 The people came to Moses and said, 「We sinned when we spoke against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take the snakes away from us.」 So Moses prayed for the people.
