次日清早，他們起來，在耶和華面前敬拜，就回拉瑪。到了家裏，以利加拿和妻哈拿同房，耶和華顧念哈拿， 19 Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the LORD and then went back to their home at Ramah. Elkanah lay with Hannah his wife, and the LORD remembered her.

哈拿就懷孕。日期滿足，生了一個兒子，給他起名叫撒母耳，說：「這是我從耶和華那裏求來的。」 20 So in the course of time Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, 1:20 （（Samuel）） sounds like the Hebrew for （（heard of God.）） saying, 「Because I asked the LORD for him.」

她丈夫以利加拿說：「就隨你的意行吧！可以等兒子斷了奶。但願耶和華應驗他的話。」於是婦人在家裏乳養兒子，直到斷了奶； 23 「Do what seems best to you,」 Elkanah her husband told her. 「Stay here until you have weaned him; only may the LORD make good his 1:23 Masoretic Text; Dead Sea Scrolls, Septuagint and Syriac （（your）） word.」 So the woman stayed at home and nursed her son until she had weaned him.

既斷了奶，就把孩子帶上示羅，到了耶和華的殿；又帶了三隻公牛，一伊法細麵，一皮袋酒。（那時，孩子還小。） 24 After he was weaned, she took the boy with her, young as he was, along with a three-year-old bull, 1:24 Dead Sea Scrolls, Septuagint and Syriac; Masoretic Text （（with three bulls）） an ephah 1:24 That is, probably about 3/5 bushel （about 22 liters） of flour and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the LORD at Shiloh.
