路得記, 1章

1:1 當士師秉政的時候,國中遭遇饑荒。在猶大、伯利恆,有一個人帶著妻子和兩個兒子往摩押地去寄居。 In the days when the judges ruled, \f 1:1 Traditionally ((judged)) there was a famine in the land, and a man from Bethlehem in Judah, together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab.
1:2 這人名叫以利米勒,他的妻名叫拿俄米;他兩個兒子,一個名叫瑪倫,一個名叫基連,都是猶大的伯利恆的以法他人。他們到了摩押地,就住在那裏。 The man's name was Elimelech, his wife's name Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to Moab and lived there.
1:3 後來拿俄米的丈夫以利米勒死了,剩下婦人和她兩個兒子。 Now Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died, and she was left with her two sons.
1:4 這兩個兒子娶了摩押女子為妻,一個名叫俄珥巴,一個名叫路得,在那裏住了約有十年。 They married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. After they had lived there about ten years,
1:5 瑪倫和基連二人也死了,剩下拿俄米,沒有丈夫,也沒有兒子。 both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband.
1:6 她就與兩個兒婦起身,要從摩押地歸回;因為她在摩押地聽見耶和華眷顧自己的百姓,賜糧食與他們。 When she heard in Moab that the LORD had come to the aid of his people by providing food for them, Naomi and her daughters-in-law prepared to return home from there.
1:7 於是她和兩個兒婦起行離開所住的地方,要回猶大地去。 With her two daughters-in-law she left the place where she had been living and set out on the road that would take them back to the land of Judah.
1:8 拿俄米對兩個兒婦說:「你們各人回娘家去吧。願耶和華恩待你們,像你們恩待已死的人與我一樣! Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, <<Go back, each of you, to your mother's home. May the LORD show kindness to you, as you have shown to your dead and to me.
1:9 願耶和華使你們各在新夫家中得平安!」於是拿俄米與她們親嘴。她們就放聲而哭, May the LORD grant that each of you will find rest in the home of another husband.>>Then she kissed them and they wept aloud
1:10 說:「不然,我們必與你一同回你本國去。」 and said to her, <<We will go back with you to your people.>>
1:11 拿俄米說:「我女兒們哪,回去吧!為何要跟我去呢?我還能生子作你們的丈夫嗎? But Naomi said, <<Return home, my daughters. Why would you come with me? Am I going to have any more sons, who could become your husbands?
1:12 我女兒們哪,回去吧!我年紀老邁,不能再有丈夫;即或說,我還有指望,今夜有丈夫可以生子, Return home, my daughters; I am too old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was still hope for me--even if I had a husband tonight and then gave birth to sons--
1:13 你們豈能等著他們長大呢?你們豈能等著他們不嫁別人呢?我女兒們哪,不要這樣。我為你們的緣故甚是愁苦,因為耶和華伸手攻擊我。」 would you wait until they grew up? Would you remain unmarried for them? No, my daughters. It is more bitter for me than for you, because the LORD's hand has gone out against me!>>
1:14 兩個兒婦又放聲而哭,俄珥巴與婆婆親嘴而別,只是路得捨不得拿俄米。 At this they wept again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law good-by, but Ruth clung to her.
1:15 拿俄米說:「看哪,你嫂子已經回她本國和她所拜的神那裏去了,你也跟著你嫂子回去吧!」 <<Look,>> said Naomi, <<your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her.>>
1:16 路得說:「不要催我回去不跟隨你。你往哪裏去,我也往那裏去;你在哪裏住宿,我也在那裏住宿;你的國就是我的國,你的 神就是我的 神。 But Ruth replied, <<Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.
1:17 你在哪裏死,我也在那裏死,也葬在那裏。除非死能使你我相離!不然,願耶和華重重地降罰與我。」 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me.>>
1:18 拿俄米見路得定意要跟隨自己去,就不再勸她了。 When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.
1:19 於是二人同行,來到伯利恆。她們到了伯利恆,合城的人就都驚訝。婦女們說:「這是拿俄米嗎?」 So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them, and the women exclaimed, <<Can this be Naomi?>>
1:20 拿俄米對他們說:「不要叫我拿俄米〔就是甜的意思〕,要叫我瑪拉〔就是苦的意思〕,因為全能者使我受了大苦。 <<Don't call me Naomi,>>1:20 ((Naomi)) means ((pleasant)); also in verse 21. she told them. <<Call me Mara,1:20 ((Mara)) means ((bitter.))because the Almighty 1:20 Hebrew ((Shaddai)); also in verse 21 has made my life very bitter.
1:21 我滿滿地出去,耶和華使我空空地回來。耶和華降禍與我,全能者使我受苦。既是這樣,你們為何還叫我拿俄米呢?」 I went away full, but the LORD has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The LORD has afflicted 1:21 Or ((has testified against)) me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me.>>
1:22 拿俄米和她兒婦摩押女子路得,從摩押地回來到伯利恆,正是動手割大麥的時候。 So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning.

    「祂又領我到寬闊之處,祂救拔我,因祂喜悅我。」詩篇十八篇19節

    這「寬闊之處」究竟是甚麼呢?這不是別的,乃是神自己─一切生命河流的歸宿。神實在是一個寬闊之處。大衛被領到寬闊之處,是先經過羞恥和侮辱的。

    「我如鷹將你們背在翅膀上,帶來歸我。」(出十九章4節)

    我畏懼把船開到如怒如狂的波浪裏,
    我問主:
    「我這小舟將被潮水帶往何方,
    是否要到翻騰的大海」?
    主回答說:
    「帶來到我身旁」。

    我站在敞的墓穴之旁,
    憂心如焚,
    痛苦的靈魂向神發出哀號:
    「我主的這條苦路通往何方」?
    祂說:
    「這是歸我之道」。
    我願為靈魂的解放而努力,
    可是一受挫,
    我不明白其中奧秘,
    直到祂說:
    「我是你的一切;
     我喚你歸向真神」。

    自從我到了祂的心中,
    我的幸福非言語所可形容,
    昔日的留戀都成虛幻;
      我被帶入祂的心中。

    "He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me; because he delighted in me." (Psa. 18:19.)

     AND what is this "large place?" What can it be but God Himself, that infinite Being in whom all other beings and all other streams of life terminate? God is a large place indeed. And it was through humiliation, through abasement, through nothingness that David was brought into it.

    Striving for souls, I loved the work too well;

    八月廿一日 基督與祂釘十字架

    「我曾定了主意,在你們中間不知道別的,只知道耶穌基督並祂釘十字架,我講的道是用聖靈大能的明證。」哥林多前書二章2、4節

    這節經文很清楚指出保羅傳福音的目的,使人知道耶穌基督並祂釘十字架。但這有很深遠的思想,這話的目的說出釘十字架的基督,不僅是祂講道的內容,也是祂以聖靈及生命證明的事實,哥林多後書十三章8節也說到:「基督因軟弱被釘十字架上,卻因神的大能仍然活著,我們也是這樣同祂軟弱,但因神向你們所顯的大能,也必與祂同活。」他整個職事和談話,都以基督的樣式為中心——因軟弱被釘在十字架上,因神的大能卻仍然活著。

    在今天經文的前面(一18)保羅這樣寫道:「十字架的道理在那滅亡的人為愚拙,在我們得救的人卻為神的大能。」這不僅是他所傳的道理,也是謙卑與釘十字架的基督同弱者所有的性情和舉止品行,他也證明自己與十字架及其羞恥同弱,而基督整個生命都在尋求像釘十字架耶穌的靈;這而第二章3節他也說道:「我在你們那裏又軟弱,又懼怕,又甚戰兢。」

    根據這點他說了極強的話:「基督差遣我……,乃是為傳福音,並不用智慧的言語,免得基督的十字架落了空。」(一17)「我講的道不是用智慧委婉的言語,乃是用聖靈和大能的明證。」(二4)在此可說明我們傳福音為什麼只有如此少神大能的明證?從人間學習及口才所傳釘十字架基督的主題,自然無法與超自然神聖大能釘十字架基督相比。

    神要幫助我們每位傳道人和信徒明白:我們要像教會所擺出的標記一樣——除了耶穌基督並祂十字架,沒有別的。

    八月廿一日 人所不注意的貢獻

    「虛心的人有福了。」馬太福音五章3節

    照我們的標準看,新約所注意的事,似乎是無關鴻旨的。「虛心的人有福了」,照原文是貧民有福了,貧民多極了,普遍極了!最易引起我們注意的,是堅強的意志,優美的品性。「為基督決志」一語,是我們常常聽見的。可惜這不是我們的主所喜歡聽的話。祂絕不要我們為祂決志,卻是要我們歸服,決志與歸服是絕對不同的事。耶穌基督天國的基礎,是建在愛平常事物的心的上面。我蒙福正是因為我貧窮。如果我知道我沒有堅強的意志,沒有高尚的性質,那不要緊,耶穌就要說──你是有福的,因為經過了這種貧窮,才能進入天國。我不能像一個好男女進天國,只能像一個完全的貧民才得進去。

    那真正表揚神的愛之性質者,總是出於無意的。有意識的感力是自大的,非基督化的。如果我說,「我不知我有無用處,」我立刻就失去了與主的接觸。「信我的人,從他腹中要流出活水的江河來。」(約七38)如果我考察流出來的東西,我就失去了與主的接觸。

    最感動我們的,是那一種人呢?不是那些常想到自己是感動我們的人,卻是那些絕沒有想到感動我們的人。在基督徒的生活裡,全無有為而為的有意行動,如果有所為,那與基督接觸所生的愛就馬上消滅了。我們常是知道耶穌甚麼時候在工作,因為祂在常人所不注意的事上發生興趣。

    八月廿一日

    「……不要因這大軍恐懼……因為勝敗不在乎你們,乃在乎神。」歷代志下廿章15節

    得勝的秘訣在於把所有的戰役都視為神的。再說,勝敗本來就在乎神,我們根本不必爭戰。但是如果我們計算我們的危險、責任,立刻就會被恐懼分散了我們的心。相反的,如果我們知道神必定會像照顧祂的產業、祂的代表那樣地看顧我們,我們就會感到無限的放心、安全。

    假使我派我的雇工出一趟遠門,我就必須負責他的一切花費,並且保護他的安全。神比我們信實,想必更會為我們負責到底。如果我們屬於主,而且把生命、家庭,以及一切所有都交在祂的手中,祂絕對會照顧我們。

    就像一個牧人的興趣,乃在於把他的羊養得肥肥壯壯的、照顧得服服貼貼,使人禁不住讚賞一樣。神對我們這屬於祂的靈魂體,也深具同樣的興趣。

    「感謝神!常帥領我們在基督裡誇勝……」。(林後二14)

    興起,興起為耶穌,
    當靠祂剛強站穩;
    因肉體的私慾將拖垮你,
    千萬不要依恃你自己。
