啟示錄, 1章

1:1 耶穌基督的啟示，就是　神賜給他，叫他將必要快成的事指示他的眾僕人。他就差遺使者曉諭他的僕人約翰。 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,
1:2 約翰便將　神的道和耶穌基督的見證，凡自己所看見的都證明出來。 who testifies to everything he saw--that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
1:3 念這書上預言的和那些聽見又遵守其中所記載的，都是有福的，因為日期近了。 Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
1:4 約翰寫信給亞西亞的七個教會。但願從那昔在、今在、以後永在的　神，和他寶座前的七靈， John,To the seven churches in the province of Asia:Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits(\f1 1:4 Or|i the sevenfold Spirit|d) before his throne,
1:5 並那誠實作見證的、從死裏首先復活、為世上君王元首的耶穌基督，有恩惠、平安歸與你們！他愛我們，用自己的血使我們脫離〔有古卷：洗去〕罪惡， and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,
1:6 又使我們成為國民，作他父　神的祭司。但願榮耀、權能歸給他，直到永永遠遠。阿們！ and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father--to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
1:7 看哪，他駕雲降臨！眾目要看見他，連刺他的人也要看見他；地上的萬族都要因他哀哭。這話是真實的。阿們！ Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. r So shall it be! Amen.
1:8 主　神說：「我是阿拉法，我是俄梅戛，〔阿拉法，俄梅戛：是希臘字母首末二字〕，是昔在、今在、以後永在的全能者。」 <<I am the Alpha and the Omega,>> says the Lord God, <<who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.>>
1:9 我─約翰就是你們的弟兄，和你們在耶穌的患難、國度、忍耐裏一同有分，為　神的道，並為給耶穌作的見證，曾在那名叫拔摩的海島上。 I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.
1:10 當主日，我被聖靈感動，聽見在我後面有大聲音如吹號，說： 0 On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,
1:11 「你所看見的當寫在書上，達與以弗所、示每拿、別迦摩、推雅推喇、撒狄、非拉鐵非、老底嘉、那七個教會。」 which said: <<Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.>>
1:12 我轉過身來，要看是誰發聲與我說話；既轉過來，就看見七個金燈臺。 I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands,
1:13 燈臺中間有一位好像人子，身穿長衣，直垂到腳，胸間束著金帶。 and among the lampstands was someone <<like a son of man,>> (\f2 1:13 Daniel 7:13) dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest.
1:14 他的頭與髮皆白，如白羊毛，如雪；眼目如同火焰； His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.
1:15 腳好像在爐中鍛鍊光明的銅；聲音如同眾水的聲音。 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.
1:16 他右手拿著七星，從他口中出來一把兩刃的利劍；面貌如同烈日放光。 In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.
1:17 我一看見，就仆倒在他腳前，像死了一樣。他用右手按著我，說：「不要懼怕！我是首先的，我是末後的， When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: <<Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.
1:18 又是那存活的；我曾死過，現在又活了，直活到永永遠遠；並且拿著死亡和陰間的鑰匙。 I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
1:19 所以你要把所看見的，和現在的事，並將來必成的事，都寫出來。 <<Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later.
1:20 論到你所看見、在我右手中的七星和七個金燈臺的奧祕，那七星就是七個教會的使者，七燈臺就是七個教會。」 The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels (\f3 1:20 Or|i messengers|d) of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

    「祂又領我到寬闊之處，祂救拔我，因祂喜悅我。」詩篇十八篇19節

    這「寬闊之處」究竟是甚麼呢？這不是別的，乃是神自己─一切生命河流的歸宿。神實在是一個寬闊之處。大衛被領到寬闊之處，是先經過羞恥和侮辱的。

    「我如鷹將你們背在翅膀上，帶來歸我。」（出十九章4節）

    我畏懼把船開到如怒如狂的波浪裏，
    我問主：
    「我這小舟將被潮水帶往何方，
    是否要到翻騰的大海」？
    主回答說：
    「帶來到我身旁」。

    我站在敞的墓穴之旁，
    憂心如焚，
    痛苦的靈魂向神發出哀號：
    「我主的這條苦路通往何方」？
    祂說：
    「這是歸我之道」。
    我願為靈魂的解放而努力，
    可是一受挫，
    我不明白其中奧秘，
    直到祂說：
    「我是你的一切；
    　我喚你歸向真神」。

    自從我到了祂的心中，
    我的幸福非言語所可形容，
    昔日的留戀都成虛幻；
    　　我被帶入祂的心中。

    "He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me; because he delighted in me." (Psa. 18:19.)

    　ＡND what is this "large place?" What can it be but God Himself, that infinite Being in whom all other beings and all other streams of life terminate? God is a large place indeed. And it was through humiliation, through abasement, through nothingness that David was brought into it.

    "I bare you on eagle's wings, and brought you unto myself."(Exod. 19:4.)

    I asked the Lord where would its waters glide
    My little bark, "To troubled seas I dread?"
    "Unto Myself," He said.

    Weeping beside an open grave I stood,
    In bitterness of soul I cried to God:
    "Where leads this path of sorrow that I tread?"
    "Unto Myself," He said.

    Striving for souls, I loved the work too well;
    Then disappointments came; I could not tell
    The reason, till He said, "I am thine all;
    Unto Myself I call."

    Unto Himself! No earthly tongue can tell
    The bliss I find, since in His heart I dwell;
    The things that charmed me once seen all as naught;
    Unto Himself I'm brought.

    八月廿一日　基督與祂釘十字架

    「我曾定了主意，在你們中間不知道別的，只知道耶穌基督並祂釘十字架，我講的道是用聖靈大能的明證。」哥林多前書二章2、4節

    這節經文很清楚指出保羅傳福音的目的，使人知道耶穌基督並祂釘十字架。但這有很深遠的思想，這話的目的說出釘十字架的基督，不僅是祂講道的內容，也是祂以聖靈及生命證明的事實，哥林多後書十三章8節也說到：「基督因軟弱被釘十字架上，卻因神的大能仍然活著，我們也是這樣同祂軟弱，但因神向你們所顯的大能，也必與祂同活。」他整個職事和談話，都以基督的樣式為中心——因軟弱被釘在十字架上，因神的大能卻仍然活著。

    在今天經文的前面（一18）保羅這樣寫道：「十字架的道理在那滅亡的人為愚拙，在我們得救的人卻為神的大能。」這不僅是他所傳的道理，也是謙卑與釘十字架的基督同弱者所有的性情和舉止品行，他也證明自己與十字架及其羞恥同弱，而基督整個生命都在尋求像釘十字架耶穌的靈；這而第二章3節他也說道：「我在你們那裏又軟弱，又懼怕，又甚戰兢。」

    根據這點他說了極強的話：「基督差遣我……，乃是為傳福音，並不用智慧的言語，免得基督的十字架落了空。」（一17）「我講的道不是用智慧委婉的言語，乃是用聖靈和大能的明證。」（二4）在此可說明我們傳福音為什麼只有如此少神大能的明證？從人間學習及口才所傳釘十字架基督的主題，自然無法與超自然神聖大能釘十字架基督相比。

    神要幫助我們每位傳道人和信徒明白：我們要像教會所擺出的標記一樣——除了耶穌基督並祂十字架，沒有別的。

    八月廿一日　人所不注意的貢獻

    「虛心的人有福了。」馬太福音五章3節

    照我們的標準看，新約所注意的事，似乎是無關鴻旨的。「虛心的人有福了」，照原文是貧民有福了，貧民多極了，普遍極了！最易引起我們注意的，是堅強的意志，優美的品性。「為基督決志」一語，是我們常常聽見的。可惜這不是我們的主所喜歡聽的話。祂絕不要我們為祂決志，卻是要我們歸服，決志與歸服是絕對不同的事。耶穌基督天國的基礎，是建在愛平常事物的心的上面。我蒙福正是因為我貧窮。如果我知道我沒有堅強的意志，沒有高尚的性質，那不要緊，耶穌就要說──你是有福的，因為經過了這種貧窮，才能進入天國。我不能像一個好男女進天國，只能像一個完全的貧民才得進去。

    那真正表揚神的愛之性質者，總是出於無意的。有意識的感力是自大的，非基督化的。如果我說，「我不知我有無用處，」我立刻就失去了與主的接觸。「信我的人，從他腹中要流出活水的江河來。」（約七38）如果我考察流出來的東西，我就失去了與主的接觸。

    最感動我們的，是那一種人呢？不是那些常想到自己是感動我們的人，卻是那些絕沒有想到感動我們的人。在基督徒的生活裡，全無有為而為的有意行動，如果有所為，那與基督接觸所生的愛就馬上消滅了。我們常是知道耶穌甚麼時候在工作，因為祂在常人所不注意的事上發生興趣。

    八月廿一日

    「……不要因這大軍恐懼……因為勝敗不在乎你們，乃在乎神。」歷代志下廿章15節

    得勝的秘訣在於把所有的戰役都視為神的。再說，勝敗本來就在乎神，我們根本不必爭戰。但是如果我們計算我們的危險、責任，立刻就會被恐懼分散了我們的心。相反的，如果我們知道神必定會像照顧祂的產業、祂的代表那樣地看顧我們，我們就會感到無限的放心、安全。

    假使我派我的雇工出一趟遠門，我就必須負責他的一切花費，並且保護他的安全。神比我們信實，想必更會為我們負責到底。如果我們屬於主，而且把生命、家庭，以及一切所有都交在祂的手中，祂絕對會照顧我們。

    就像一個牧人的興趣，乃在於把他的羊養得肥肥壯壯的、照顧得服服貼貼，使人禁不住讚賞一樣。神對我們這屬於祂的靈魂體，也深具同樣的興趣。

    「感謝神！常帥領我們在基督裡誇勝……」。(林後二14)

    興起，興起為耶穌，
    當靠祂剛強站穩；
    因肉體的私慾將拖垮你，
    千萬不要依恃你自己。
